Youtube taken major steps to stop wrong news or rumors on its platform

The world’s largest video sharing platform, YouTube, has also announced its strictness to stop rumors from spreading. Let us tell you that before Twitter and Whatsapp have taken stern steps to stop rumors on their platform. After the death of seven people in Maharashtra, the Central Government had instructed Instant Messaging App Whatsapp to take the necessary steps to stop these rumors from spreading. After that, the company announced several changes to prevent mis-information through its platform and sought cooperation from the government and people.

Google-owned company YouTube, through its blog post on Monday, said that we are taking strict steps to stop wrong news or rumors through video platforms. For this, YouTube is working with the Google News Initiative which started in March this year. In its blog post, YouTube said that we will verify the source of autonomic sources by verifying the news. Especially rumors are spread through breaking news. The breaking news that will be shared through the platform will be monitored on the Priority Basis.

Video will be intensively investigated

YouTube viewers will warn via short text message that the news may change. YouTube has said in the blog that we will take meaningful steps to ban fake videos and rumored videos. Apart from this, there will be intensive scrutiny of videos with natural disasters as well as major events. Before uploading this kind of video on YouTube, users need to enter information about their source in the text box. Because of which the Miss-Information Loop can be reinforced.

Apart from this, the company is working on many other ways to counter rumored video. For this, the company is also taking help from a trusted source such as Wikipedia and Encyclopedia.
